The Bilkent University Department of Tourism and Hotel Management was established in 1988, in accordance with the vision of university founder Prof. İhsan Doğramacı regarding the importance of tourism for Turkey, as the first private institution of higher education in the country to provide instruction in tourism and hotel management. In the years since, the department has graduated over 3,900 students.

Our mission is to close the gap between the needs of the tourism industry and the world of contemporary tourism education in a national, regional, and local context by implementing theoretical and practical programs of instruction through interaction between students, faculty, and industry professionals. In doing so, special emphasis is placed on sustaining and advancing the significant national and international recognition that the department already has achieved through high-quality research, education and various other activities to enhance the awareness and learning outcomes of students and the existing knowledge in the field.

Our vision is to be a leader in tourism education and build the strongest bridge possible between the tourism industry and our department by preparing well-equipped individuals with a global view of world citizenship who are ready to assume professional responsibilities.
